Biography:

Amy Smith, CIA, CHFP, CRMA, MBA, CHIAP, COC, CPC, CPMA, has over 20 years of experience in medical billing and coding, high-level auditing, project managing, and directing several coders across multiple facility locations. Amy currently serves as a Director of Internal Audit for Bon Secours Mercy Health and is a subject matter resource in coding/ billing/ revenue cycle auditing.  She has spent most of her career in healthcare finance and audit and has over 25 years of experience in the industry.  Amy earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance from The College of William and Mary in Virginia and is active on the local alumni chapter board.  She is an active member of the IIA, HFMA, AAPC, and AHIA, for which she also serves on the Editorial Board of the Publications Committee. Amy is a frequent speaker at the local, regional, and national levels and has authored several articles for various professional journals.
